FAQ

Q. Who is Veterans Disability Aid, Inc.?

A. Veterans Disability Aid is VA Accredited Claims Agent Alan Watt and his staff of professional advocates. We know the VA laws and regulations, and we will fight the VA on your behalf to get your claim approved. We represent Veterans and their families on their VA disability claims and appeals, and we specialize in appeals of denied and/or inadequately rated VA disability claims.

Q: Where is Veterans Disability Aid Located?

A: Veterans Disability Aid is located in Oceanside, California, which is in North San Diego County. You do not have to be located in San Diego, or even California, for us to help you. We have represented Veterans and their families worldwide.

Q: Is there a fee for your services?

A: Yes, we work on a contingency fee basis for appeals of denied and/or inadequately rated VA disability claims. The contingency fee is 20-30% (based on the circumstances of the claim) of the retroactive pay owed to the veteran upon the approval of the claim. There is nothing deducted from the monthly award amount going forward from the date of the approval; it’s strictly on the back pay.

The advantage to the veteran in this arrangement is that we have a vested interest in getting the claim approved for the highest rating possible, and we don’t get paid unless the veteran gets paid.

If a contingency fee is not appropriate based on the circumstances of the claim, then an agreed upon flat fee is an option.

Q: How do I get Started?

A: In order for us to properly evaluate if we can assist you, we will need you to forward a copy of your VA decision notification letter and the rating decision. Please fax, email, or mail the documents to our office for an initial review.

If you do not have any of these documents, we can help you to get copies.

Q: How long will it take for my VA disability claim to be approved?

A: VA is ultimately the adjudicator of claims and we cannot guarantee to get your claim expedited. VA disability compensation claim processing times vary between Regional Offices. The Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA’s) 2013 Annual Report lists the following average processing times for VA claim appeals:

– Notice of Disagreement at the Regional Office: 404 days

– Disposition of a formal appeal at the BVA: 930 days

We are committed to getting your VA disability claim approved as quickly as possible. The key to getting a quicker approval is to submit all of the necessary documentation and evidence needed for the VA to approve the claim, and we work with you to help make this happen.
